It was a typical, perfect North Queensland Saturday afternoon and the families came to settle on the grass and enjoy all the Queensland Nickel Variety Special Children’s Christmas Party had to offer.

There was food and drinks for all; face painting and breath taking amusement rides. The stage program was led by local radio personality Steve Price and featured non-stop music and magic. Special guests on the day included Ronald McDonald and two friendly people from Ramsey Street – Sandy Winton who plays Mike Williams and Eve Morey who plays Sonya Mitchell on the ever-popular “Neighbours”.

The Army invaded with an enormous static display of equipment and even military dress ups! PLUS, a non-stop shuttle in one of the vehicles.
Oh, and there was another guest – a guy in a red suit with a real beard (apparently THAT is the recognised reality test for children) who gave away
a room full of gifts to lots of very happy kids!
