The 2009 Variety Special Children’s Christmas Party was held on Wednesday
18th November from 5pm to 9pm. It was a great success with 816 local special
needs children attending, with many travelling from as far away as Scone in
the west, Woy Woy in the south and Taree in the north.

Santa arrived at 6pm and made his way onto stage to give a Big hello to all
the children in attendance. He then took up his place in the specially prepared
Santa area and waited for all the delighted children to come up to see him
and show him all of the great presents that they received.

Our on stage entertainment featured “Super Hubert” and the ever popular
“Waltzing Matildas” along with party band “The Toads” who kept the children
singing along with a great selection of favourite songs.

A BIG thankyou must go to Sylvester Bros Bakers, Donut King Jesmond,
Bidvest Food Services, Primo Smallgoods, Frucor Beverages, Schweppes
Australia and Streets for suppling the food and drinks for the kids and the
staff from NRMA Insurance and Tomago Aluminium for their tireless work
in the toy-room ensuring that the children left with huge smiles and even
bigger bags of toys, and to the volunteers from Variety the Children’s Charity
Newcastle, Rovers Australia, SES Newcastle and Tomaree, GIO/Suncorp,
Westpac, Target and many more for their help in insuring that this was
another Great Party.
