Once again the local special needs children plus their families and carers
made their way to the Coffs Harbour Showgrounds for the 2009 Variety Special
Children’s Christmas Party on Sunday 6th December.

The day was made even more special for the children attending with the
appearance of Hany Lee (Sunny Lee) from the Neighbours program on stage
and helping out in the toy room. Hany was also kept very busy signing
autographs and having photographs taken with the children right throughout
the day.

Santa made his entry on the back of a trike supplied by Graham Gormley
from “Trike Rides on the Coffs Coast” with an escort of 12 Harley Davidson
bikes, which proved to be a real treat for the children. On stage entertainment
featured “The Toads and the Jungle Jam Band” (our Party band) and “Troppo
Bob” (our balloon artist) and they delighted the children once again with their
full of energy acts, and they had the children in party mode for the whole 3 hours.

A big thankyou must go to McDonalds Coffs Harbour, Donut King the Plaza,
Russell’s Prime Quality Meats, Schweppes Australia and Fonterra Brands for
suppling food and drinks for the kids, and to the Bonville/Sawtell and Pacific
City Lions Clubs, Variety the Children’s Charity, Corindi and Coffs Harbour
SES, Rovers Coffs Harbour and the many other volunteers for their great
assistance with the party setup, food area service and in the toy-room
ensuring the every child left with a full tummy and a full bag of great toys.
